Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer to join our fintech client in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will design, build, and optimize robust backend services, integrate with Ethereum, Polygon, and private networks, and ensure scalability and security of our platform.

You will work with cross-functional teams, develop Go, Python, or Node.js backends, create microservices and REST APIs, manage databases (SQL/NoSQL), and stay updated on blockchain advances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional backend development experience.
• At least 3 years of experience working with blockchain technologies and integrating backend systems with blockchains.
• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go, Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Experience with building and deploying microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of blockchain concepts, including transactions, consensus mechanisms, and smart contracts.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend services for blockchain applications.
• Integrate backend systems with various blockchain networks (e.g., Ethereum, Polygon, or private blockchains).
• Develop APIs and microservices to support blockchain functionalities.
• Implement robust data management and storage solutions for blockchain data.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and performance of backend systems and blockchain integrations.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code in languages like Go, Python, or Node.js.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend system issues and blockchain integration problems.
• Stay updated on the latest backend technologies and blockchain advancements.
