Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer to join our client’s core technology team in Sandton, Gauteng. You will design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure powering a high-performance digital asset exchange, with a focus on robust blockchain integrations and distributed systems.

You will collaborate with frontend, product, and other stakeholders, write clean, tested code, and stay updated on blockchain developments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer
• Strong understanding of distributed systems
• Experience with backend languages (Go, Python, Java, Node.js)
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies is a plus
• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL)

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding digital asset exchange, is seeking a talented Senior Blockchain Engineer to join their core technology team. This position, located in the vibrant hub of Sandton, Gauteng, ZA, will focus on building and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our high-performance trading platform. You will be responsible for developing robust, scalable, and secure blockchain integrations, working with distributed systems, and contributing to the evolution of our crypto & blockchain offerings. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer with a strong understanding of distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
• Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with blockchain technologies, protocols, and concepts (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, consensus mechanisms).
• Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
