Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and deploy scalable microservices for a fast-growing logistics tech startup in Randburg, Gauteng. You will engineer robust APIs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive performance and security across distributed systems.

The role requires 5+ years in backend development, proficiency in Go/Java/Python, and strong knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Proven experience designing and building microservices architectures.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend microservices.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
• Architect and implement robust APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and other engineers to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Implement security best practices and ensure data integrity.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across distributed systems.
• Contribute to the evolution of our technology stack and development best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
