Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer to join our client’s core technology team in Sandton, Gauteng. You will design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure powering a high-performance digital asset exchange, with a focus on robust blockchain integrations and distributed systems.

You will collaborate with frontend, product, and other stakeholders, write clean, tested code, and stay updated on blockchain developments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer
• Strong understanding of distributed systems
• Experience with backend languages (Go, Python, Java, Node.js)
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies is a plus
• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL)
• Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services for blockchain integration.
• Build and maintain APIs for interacting with blockchain networks and smart contracts.
• Implement and optimize data handling and storage for blockchain data.
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance of backend systems.
• Collaborate with frontend, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural decisions.
• Troubleshoot backend issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Stay current with backend technologies and blockchain developments.
