Placements24 is recruiting a Principal BIM Coordinator for a renowned international architectural and engineering consultancy in Paarl, Western Cape. You will lead the BIM team, set standards, and drive digital design across commercial, institutional, and high-end residential projects.

The role requires a Master’s degree and 10+ years in AEC, with 7+ years in BIM coordination, plus advanced Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD expertise and BEP implementation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10+ years in the AEC industry with at least 7 years focused on BIM coordination/management.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and other BIM software.
• Experience developing and implementing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project lifecycles, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Experience with scripting or programming for BIM automation (e.g., Dynamo, Python) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Common Data Environments (CDEs) and collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead BIM standards and protocols across projects.
• Coordinate BIM activities for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Develop and maintain the company's BIM content library and templates.
• Provide technical expertise and support to project teams on BIM software and workflows.
• Facilitate clash detection and resolution processes using tools like Navisworks.
• Conduct regular BIM quality assurance checks and provide feedback for improvement.
• Train and mentor junior BIM coordinators and project team members.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure effective BIM integration.
• Stay current with emerging BIM technologies and industry best practices.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the firm's digital design and construction capabilities.
