Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Performance Engineer for a Centurion, Gauteng role focused on enhancing vehicle performance through engine tuning, chassis dynamics, and aerodynamic optimization.

You will use advanced simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Power) and real-world dyno testing, analyze data, and collaborate with design and manufacturing to drive targets from concept to production. A flexible remote collaboration setup is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 5+ years in automotive performance engineering or vehicle dynamics.
• Proficiency with engine dynamometers and data acquisition systems.
• Strong thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and controls knowledge.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and GT-Power or similar.

Responsibilities

• Improve vehicle performance including power, fuel efficiency, handling.
• Collect and analyze data from testing, simulations, and dyno runs.
• Tune engine management systems: fuel injection, ignition timing, boost control.
• Refine chassis dynamics and aerodynamics.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to meet targets.
• Develop and validate performance models using simulations.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings.
• Stay updated on emerging automotive tech.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and propose solutions.
