Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Performance Engineer in Centurion to lead ECU calibration, engine tuning, and vehicle dynamics optimization for next-generation vehicles.

You will work with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink), conduct real-world testing, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across powertrain and chassis teams to deliver high-performance, emissions-compliant solutions.

This contract role offers flexible remote options and access to state-of-the-art testing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in automotive performance engineering.
• Experience with ECU calibration tools and methodologies (e.g., INCA, ETAS).
• Strong understanding of engine principles and performance tuning.
• Expertise in vehicle dynamics, suspension and chassis tuning.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and validate ECU calibration for performance, drivability, and emissions.
• Analyze vehicle dynamics data to optimize suspension, steering, and braking.
• Collaborate with powertrain and chassis design teams for integrated performance.
• Conduct performance testing on dynamometers and proving grounds.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and prediction of vehicle performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues during development.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of emerging automotive performance trends.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the knowledge base.
