Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our Durban automotive facility. You will lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, using CATIA V5 or SolidWorks to meet stringent performance and safety standards.

You will perform FEA-based analysis, collaborate with vehicle integration teams, and contribute to prototype testing and validation. The role offers a dynamic, innovation-driven environment in Durban.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 6 years of automotive mechanical design experience.
Expertise in CATIA V5 or SolidWorks is essential.
Proficiency with simulation tools for stress, thermal and vibration analysis.
Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and materials.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies for automotive applications using advanced CAD tools.
Perform detailed FEA simulations and analysis to optimize component performance and durability.
Collaborate closely with vehicle integration teams to ensure seamless component fitting and functionality.
Develop and manage technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for automotive systems.
Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in automotive engineering and design.
Participate in prototype testing and validation, troubleshooting issues and implementing design improvements.
