Placements24 is seeking a skilled Automation and Controls Engineer to join Stellenbosch-based advanced manufacturing operations. You will design, program, and commission control systems, troubleshoot automation equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, 5+ years in industrial automation, and hands-on experience with PLCs (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000), HMI/SCADA (WinCC, FactoryTalk

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
Proficiency in programming various PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
Experience with HMI/SCADA software (e.g., WinCC, FactoryTalk View) and industrial networking protocols.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and program PLC control systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) for new and existing machinery.
Develop and maintain Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications for process monitoring and control.
Install, commission, and troubleshoot automated equipment and robotic systems on the production floor.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to integrate automation solutions effectively.
Implement and maintain SCADA systems for data acquisition and process visualization.
Optimize existing automation processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
Ensure the reliability and safety of all automated systems, adhering to industry standards.
