Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to join their pharmaceutical R&D team in Richards Bay to develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug discovery and development. The role ensures quality, purity, and stability of APIs and finished products within a state-of-the-art facility.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with 5+ years in pharma analytics, expertise in HPLC/GC-MS/LC-MS/NMR, and strong knowledge

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, and various spectroscopic techniques.
• Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines (ICH, FDA) relevant to pharmaceutical analysis and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate robust analytical methods using HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, and spectroscopy for API and drug product characterization.
• Perform routine quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
• Investigate and troubleshoot analytical method deviations and out-of-specification results.
• Prepare detailed analytical reports, method validation protocols, and regulatory submission documents.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists and process development teams to provide analytical support throughout the product lifecycle.
