Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Pharmaceutical Quality Control Chemist for our Richards Bay facility. You will perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences and 2+ years in QC or analytical lab, with hands-on experience using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, and dissolution testers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• 2+ years in pharmaceutical quality control or analytical lab.
• Experience with HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, and dissolution testing.
• Familiarity with GMP, USP/EP/BP standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical chemistry knowledge and meticulous laboratory skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non-routine analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods per regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH).
• Prepare and review test methods, specifications, and analytical reports.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate results.
• Maintain calibration schedules and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Participate in GMP-compliant internal and external audits.
