Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg is recruiting a Senior 3D Modeler to lead the creation of high-quality characters, props and environments for games and VFX projects. You will own complex modeling tasks and help optimize assets for real-time or rendered pipelines.

You will collaborate with the art director, concept artists and technical artists, and you will mentor junior modelers while upholding modeling standards and best practices. On-site facilities and full benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Modeler in games or VFX.
• Strong artistic eye for form, proportion and detail.
• Ability to mentor junior artists and work in a team.
• Proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush and Substance Painter.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior 3D Modeler to join their esteemed studio in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for bringing virtual worlds and characters to life with exceptional detail and realism. As a Senior Modeler, you will take ownership of complex modeling tasks, contribute to asset pipelines, and provide guidance to junior artists. You will collaborate closely with the art director, concept artists, and technical artists to ensure that all 3D assets meet the highest standards of quality and are optimized for real-time or rendered environments, contributing significantly to the visual fidelity of our flagship projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-poly and low-poly 3D models for characters, props, and environments using industry-standard software.
• Develop and maintain UV layouts , textures, and materials for 3D assets.
• Optimize models for performance in real-time engines or rendering pipelines.
• Collaborate with concept artists and art directors to interpret and realize artistic visions.
• Mentor junior 3D modelers and contribute to the refinement of modeling standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Modeler in the games or VFX industry.
• Expertise in 3D modeling software such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
• Strong understanding of topology, UV mapping , and texturing workflows.
• Excellent artistic eye for form, proportion, and detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet project deadlines.
