Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geoscientist specializing in seismic data interpretation to join our client in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role focuses on identifying hydrocarbon prospects by analyzing 2D and 3D seismic datasets within a hybrid work setup requiring some on-site presence in Pretoria.

You will integrate seismic data with well logs and core data, perform structural and stratigraphic analyses, and support exploration strategy and development planning with advanced workflows and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related Earth Science.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in seismic data interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (Petrel, OpendTect, GeoGraphix).

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify and delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to build subsurface models.
• Perform structural and stratigraphic interpretation, fault analysis, and horizon mapping.
• Utilize advanced seismic attributes and processing techniques to enhance geological insights.
• Assist in generation of prospect evaluations and volumetric calculations.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geologists to define drilling targets and development plans.
• Prepare technical presentations and reports for management and exploration teams.
• Contribute to team discussions on exploration strategy and play fairway analysis.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of seismic interpretation software and geological concepts.
• Ensure data quality and consistency throughout the interpretation process.
