Placements24 presents a Geophysical Data Analyst role with a leading independent exploration company in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. You will interpret seismic data, integrate with geological data, and build subsurface models to identify exploration targets.

The role requires 7+ years in seismic interpretation, proficiency with Petrel/Kingdom, and strong communication. A hybrid work arrangement and willingness to relocate are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on seismic interpretation experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with seismic interpretation software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
• Solid understanding of seismic data processing and acquisition principles.
• Experience with geological modeling and subsurface data integration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information clearly.
• Willingness to relocate for hybrid work in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify structures and hydrocarbon traps.
• Perform attribute analysis, velocity modeling, and post-stack/pre-stack processing.
• Integrate seismic data with geological and well log data to build subsurface models.
• Utilize industry-standard software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite) effectively.
• Generate maps, cross-sections, and reports to illustrate interpretations.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers and other geoscientists to provide integrated insights.
• Assist in planning seismic acquisition programs and data quality feedback.
• Stay current with advances in geophysical interpretation techniques and software.
• Contribute to assessment of exploration risk and uncertainty.
• Present findings to technical teams and management.
