Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geophysical Data Analyst for our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role is hybrid—office-based analysis with remote work flexibility—and focuses on processing seismic, gravity, and magnetic data to identify subsurface structures and anomalies relevant to hydrocarbon or mineral prospects.

You will collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to integrate geophysical insights into exploration workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Earth Science.
• Minimum of 5 years processing and interpreting geophysical data in oil/gas or mining.
• Proficiency with OpendTect, IHS Markit, Geosoft.
• Strong seismic processing and interpretation knowledge.
• Hybrid work environment and collaboration with remote team members.

Responsibilities

• Process and quality control raw geophysical data (seismic, gravity, magnetic).
• Interpret data to identify geological structures, stratigraphy, anomalies.
• Integrate geophysical data with geological and well data.
• Generate maps, cross-sections, reports summarizing geophysical findings.
• Use geophysical software for visualization, analysis, modeling.
• Collaborate with geologists to refine targets and assess prospectivity.
• Assist in planning geophysical acquisition programs.
• Stay current with advancements in geophysical technologies and methodologies.
• Troubleshoot data processing and interpretation issues.
