Job summary

Jobcrystal in Johannesburg is seeking a proactive Salesperson to join our team. You will manage in-store sales, respond to emails with quoted prices, assist walk-in customers, and help grow the business alongside the owner.

The role requires handling large orders, fast quoting, and a hands-on approach in a busy stock environment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, excel-savvy, and fluent in English, with a proven ability to work under pressure and build strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Be willing to learn huge stock items and learn about the products

• Have Intermediate Excel skills - must be able to work on Pivot tables, use v-lookups, etc.
• Have a very good command of the English language
• Be technically minded - if they come from hardware, drilling equipment etc that would be great. Must have worked with big stocks of small items eg screws - large stock holding and loads of stock items
• Must be able to work in a high pressure environment that is fast-paced - handle walk-in customers, prepping a large order, answering the phone etc.
• Must be able to take telephonic calls from reps and owners and put a complicated quote together with a great sense of urgency
• Must have a hands-on approach, be happy to work in stores, pack and unpack stock if needed. This is not a glamorous sales role but this is a vital role in the organisation

Responsibilities

• Manage the email for the company
• Respond with quotes ASAP. If needing assistance, send incoming requests out to various sales people and departments
• Ensure that quotes are submitted timeously, priced competitively
• Ensure that each email is responded to promptly
• Handle walk-in customers, take their orders, assist them with products, upsell where you can
• Work very closely with the Business Owner to grow sales and the business
• Handle large orders with 100 % accuracy
• Work on tender submissions
• Manage the sales process daily, ensuring we meet targets
