Job summary

Oneplan.co.za is seeking a Sales Consultant – Pet Insurance to drive new business and grow the existing client base in a high-volume call centre. You will use a consultative selling approach to identify customer needs and convert opportunities.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of pet insurance sales experience, RE5 and/or Class of Business in Short-Term Insurance, FAIS compliance and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

The Sales Consultant – Pet Insurance will be responsible for generating new business and growing the existing customer base by providing expert advice and selling pet insurance products. The successful candidate will have proven experience in selling pet insurance and will use a consultative sales approach to identify customer needs, recommend suitable solutions, and successfully convert sales opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the pet insurance industry, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets in a high-performance call centre environment.

Sales and Business Development

  • Achieve sales targets and conversion ratios in line with company standards.
  • Achieve the minimum monthly sales target as set by the business.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new sales opportunities through a consultative sales approach.
  • Maintain and grow existing business through effective cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
  • Educate clients on the value and benefits of pet insurance products and services.
  • Provide accurate and appropriate product information and advice based on the client's needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Ensure that the customer portfolio is effectively managed and that premiums written are collected within acceptable parameters.
  • Ensure all sales transactions are conducted in accordance with legislative requirements and company standards.

Customer Service

  • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction through proactive support, active listening, and professional communication.
  • Respond to client queries efficiently and accurately, ensuring that clients feel supported and valued.
  • Escalate client queries to the relevant department or stakeholder when required.
  • Provide accurate information and advice to clients and stakeholders to ensure the appropriate service is delivered.
  • Deliver on service level agreements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations to improve client service and ensure the fair treatment of customers.
  • Participate in and contribute to a culture that builds rewarding relationships and facilitates continuous feedback.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Administration and Compliance

  • Complete accurate and timely sales administration and customer records.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all existing and prospective clients on the company's IT systems.
  • Submit all relevant reports, paperwork, and updates on forward sales activity to the Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with applicable legislation and FAIS requirements.
  • Complete and pass all technical competency assessments applicable to the products.
  • Maintain the required level of product and industry knowledge.

Productivity and Quality

  • Achieve a minimum of 390 minutes of call time per weekday as measured through the company's CRM system.
  • Achieve a minimum of 150 minutes of call time per Saturday, twice per month, in line with business requirements.
  • Maintain 100% productivity in accordance with company productivity standards.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Maintain quality scores within the company's prescribed tolerance levels, with sales and wrap-up assessment failures not exceeding the applicable monthly allowance.
  • Consistently maintain and improve personal quality, productivity, and performance standards.
  • Plan and prioritise effectively while managing competing demands.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business requirements.

  • Grade 12 / Matric with English and a second language.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' proven experience selling pet insurance, preferably within a high-volume call centre or telesales environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of pet insurance products and the pet insurance industry.
  • RE5 and/or relevant Class of Business in Short-Term Insurance
  • FAIS credits are advantageous.
  • Must meet applicable FAIS Fit and Proper requirements.
  • Must successfully complete all required product and technical competency assessments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation, objection-handling, and closing abilities.
  • Ability to work in a target-driven, high-performance environment.
