Job summary

CALPAK is opening its first retail store in Milnerton, Western Cape, and seeks an inspired Assistant Store Manager to lead from the floor, coach the team, and elevate every customer experience.

You will drive sales, build client relationships through clienteling, mentor staff, and partner with the Store Manager to set priorities. Join a brand with a vibrant 'Happy Packing' culture and opportunities to grow with CALPAK.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of progressive retail experience, including experience leading or coaching a team.
• Strong sales, customer service, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with clienteling, customer relationship building, or community engagement is a plus.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales daily by leading from the floor and guiding the team to meet KPIs.
• Build client relationships through clienteling and personalized recommendations.
• Lead with strong product knowledge and exceptional customer service.
• Coach and develop teammates with feedback and performance conversations.
• Partner with Store Manager to set sales priorities and KPIs.
• Foster a high-energy team culture focused on service and collaboration.
• Engage with the local community to attract customers.
• Act as brand ambassador and stay updated on CALPAK products.
• Lead manager-on-duty shifts to maintain store standards.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new staff.
• Maintain a beautiful, shoppable store and accurate merchandising.
• Support daily store operations including Shopify POS and inventory.
