Job summary

P&L is seeking a Store Manager to protect and grow market share within the store by aligning with the Store, Area and Company strategy. The role requires strong leadership, HR management, and safety compliance, along with ensuring efficient deliveries, stock control, and excellent customer service.

A Grade 12 with retail management experience and a valid driver’s license are essential. The successful candidate will drive profitability, develop business plans, and manage staff, stock, and cash

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in similar position.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Grade 12 with at least 3 (three) years related Retail Management experience or 5 (five) years related Retail Management experience.
• Valid Driver's Licence.
• Must have well developed Business Acumen.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Must be computer literate (Basic computer literacy).
• Must have strong Leadership Skills.
• Must have strong Administrative Skills.
• Must have own transport and cell phone.
• Must have sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local OHSA regulations.
• Must have strong Human Resources Management Skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Issuing and follow up of quotations to generate sales.
• Quote process and control of Special Orders.
• Read building plans and ensure quotations are correct within the agreed timeframe.
• Manage the telephone, answer, and return calls; ensure follow ups.
• Conduct competitor analysis to ensure store competitiveness.
• Promote loyalty programmes (VIC and Charge Card customers).
• Manage an efficient delivery service and correct rate charges.
• Deliveries dispatched within the required time limit; communicate delays.
• Develop, implement, and manage a Store Business Plan aligned with Company strategy.
• Grow and protect profitable market share; achieve growth targets.
• Promote customer loyalty programmes and manage advertising material distribution.
• Develop action plans to protect the market when competitors enter.
• Order stock and manage shrinkage; oversee PIC and stock-take.
• Manage cash, debtors, petty cash, and daily banking; control shortages/overs.
• Recruit and induct employees; ensure training and succession planning.
• Ensure OHASA compliance; incident reporting and safety reps.
• Manage HR processes, performance management, and employee records.
• Ensure customer service standards and timely, reliable service.
• Maintain asset protection of fixed assets and safety equipment.
