Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Retail Loss Prevention Officer for our Randburg, Gauteng location. You will guard assets by detecting theft and fraud, while coordinating with store management and security teams to minimize losses and ensure policy compliance.

The role requires strong observational skills, integrity, and the ability to act decisively under pressure. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, may be needed in Randburg.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in retail loss prevention or security.
• Strong knowledge of loss prevention techniques and investigations.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stay calm and decisive under pressure.
• Good reporting and interpersonal communication.
• Understanding of laws for apprehension and investigation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor store activities to prevent and detect theft, both internal and external.
• Observe behavior and intervene when suspicious activity is identified.
• Apprehend shoplifters according to policy and laws.
• Conduct investigations into suspected theft, fraud, or policy violations.
• Prepare detailed incident reports documenting findings and actions.
• Assist with inventory control measures and stock audits.
• Enforce loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Conduct security checks of store premises, including receiving areas and back offices.
• Install and maintain security systems as required.
• Provide security awareness training to store staff.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and management as necessary.
• Maintain a professional presence within the Randburg store.
