About the Role

Our client, a major player in the retail sector, is seeking a vigilant and proactive Loss Prevention Officer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is critical in safeguarding company assets, minimizing shrinkage, and ensuring a secure shopping environment for customers and staff. You will be responsible for implementing loss prevention strategies, investigating incidents, and collaborating with store teams to reduce theft and fraud. The ideal candidate possesses strong observational skills, a keen understanding of retail security, and the ability to act with integrity and discretion in Paarl . Key Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce loss prevention policies and procedures to minimize shrinkage and protect company assets.
• Conduct surveillance, both overt and covert, to detect and deter theft and fraudulent activities.
• Investigate suspicious activities, potential theft, and internal investigations, documenting findings accurately.
• Apprehend shoplifters in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines.
• Conduct regular store audits to identify security vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
• Educate and train store staff on loss prevention best practices, including identifying risks and reporting procedures.
• Manage and maintain security equipment, such as CCTV systems and alarm systems.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and management to address security concerns and resolve incidents.
• Prepare detailed reports on investigations, incidents, and preventative measures taken.
• Promote a culture of security awareness throughout the store operations in Paarl .

Requirements

• Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field within the retail environment (minimum 2 years).
