Job summary

Clinix Botshelong-Empilweni Private Hospital (Vosloorus) seeks a Responsible Pharmacist to plan, coordinate and lead the hospital pharmacy in line with CHG standards. The role focuses on medication safety, SAPC compliance and financial performance, while managing people and processes to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care within the hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified pharmacist with B. Pharm or Diploma in Pharmacy and SAPC registration.
• Proficient in computing and financial analysis.
• 3-5 years’ relevant experience; 1 year as Responsible Pharmacist.

Reports to: Hospital Manager.

Job Summary:

To plan, coordinate and lead the Pharmacy within the hospital by ensuring that quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required CHG standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:

• A relevant pharmaceutical qualification (B. Pharm Degree or Diploma Pharm).
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Advanced level of computer literacy.
• Financial Acumen.
• Ability to interpret Financial Data.

Minimum Experience:

• 3-5 years’ relevant experience.
• 1 years’ experience as a Responsible Pharmacist.

Added Advantage:

• Relevant Business Degree.

DELIVERABLES:

Medication Safety Management

• In collaboration with the Group Pharmaceutical Services Manager, implement best operating practice related to medication safety with the objective of reducing medication incidents.
• Ensure the effective management of the Pharmacy per the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and the Good Pharmacy Practice in South Africa.
• Ensure the Pharmacy compliances with the SAPC, Department of Health (DOH) and other statutory and legal requirements.
• Drive a system of incident reporting, identify negative trends and implement corrective action.
• Ensure the establishment of and drive antimicrobial stewardship programs in the hospital.
• Ensure compliance to company policies and processes.
• Manage and advice the delivery of cost-effective quality patient pharmaceutical care in the hospital environment.

Deliver on the Hospital Pharmacy Operating Plan

• Implement and monitor relevant processes according to quality standards, policy and regulations.
• Ensure the alignment, adherence and implementation of end-to-end standard operating procedures.
• Collate and address pharmacy related incident reports, complete root cause analysis and where relevant, provide staff with training and collaborate with the clinical staff to implement operational changes promoting safety.
• Identify and address patient concerns in a systemic, proactive and timely manner and complete follow ups as necessary.
• In collaboration with relevant leadership from the hospital and Head Office, operationalise and implement new Pharmacy programmes.
