Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead projects from conception to commissioning. This fully remote role allows management of solar, wind, and other renewables across South Africa, with a focus on delivering on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in renewable energy project management, strong leadership and stakeholder skills, and proficiency with PM software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years in project management in renewables.
• PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Experience managing solar or wind projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee renewable energy projects from feasibility to handover.
• Develop plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the transition to sustainable energy solutions, is seeking a proactive and experienced Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead projects from conception through to commissioning. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to manage projects across various geographies within South Africa. You will be instrumental in driving the development and execution of solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects , ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for advancing clean energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from feasibility studies to final handover.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, construction) and external stakeholders (regulators, suppliers, community members).
• Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Report on project progress, milestones, and financial performance to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or a related field; PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Proven experience of 5+ years in project management within the renewable energy sector .
• Demonstrated success in managing complex projects, preferably involving solar or wind power.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, risk management, and financial oversight.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage remote teams effectively.
• Proficiency in project management software and standard office applications.
