Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a remote Youth Mental Health Advocate to support young people across South Africa. This role is fully remote, based at home, and focuses on virtual guidance, advocacy, and connection to services within Benoni, Gauteng region and beyond.

You will facilitate online peer groups, create educational content, maintain confidential records, and collaborate with families and professionals to improve youth well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience working with adolescents in a mental health context is preferred.
• Strong online communication, empathy and boundary setting for remote work.
• Ability to navigate digital resources, advocacy and crisis support remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual emotional support and advocacy for young people facing mental health issues.
• Facilitate online peer support groups and workshops tailored for youth.
• Connect young people with appropriate mental health services and community resources.
• Develop and share educational content on mental health topics relevant to adolescents.
• Utilize digital platforms for outreach and support.
• Maintain confidential and accurate records of interactions and interventions.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, educators, and other professionals as needed, with consent.
• Identify and respond to potential crisis situations, escalating appropriately.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of remote mental health support programs.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in youth mental health and digital support.
