Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Subsurface Safety Engineer to join a fully remote team. You will design and manage safety systems for subsurface oil & gas operations, ensuring integrity of SSVs and ESD, and performing risk analyses and incident investigations.

Requirements include a mechanical or petroleum engineering degree with 6+ years in subsurface safety roles, expertise in safety cases, and ability to collaborate with global teams while complying with API/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering.
• 6+ years in subsurface safety engineering or related Oil & Gas roles.
• In-depth knowledge of subsurface safety devices and ESD systems.
• Strong risk assessment methods and safety case development.
• Familiarity with API RP 14C, ISO standards for well safety.
• Experience with failure analysis and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
• Ability to work remotely with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and evaluate subsurface safety systems and equipment (SSVs, ESD, chokes).
• Conduct HAZID and HAZOP studies for subsurface operations.
• Perform QRA and consequence modeling for subsurface safety scenarios.
• Develop and implement integrity management strategies for subsurface equipment.
• Analyze failure data and investigate incidents involving subsurface safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with API RP 14C, ISO standards and regulations.
• Provide guidance to drilling, completions, and production teams on safety matters.
• Develop testing and maintenance procedures for subsurface safety equipment.
• Prepare technical reports, safety cases, and improvement recommendations.
• Stay abreast of advancements in subsurface safety technology and best practices.
