Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Grid Modernization Specialist for a fully remote role. Lead strategic planning, development, and implementation of smart grid initiatives to improve resilience and efficiency of the electricity grid.

Collaborate with utilities, vendors and stakeholders to evaluate technologies, integrate DERs and ensure regulatory compliance. Ideal candidate has a strong background in power systems, grid operations, and cybersecurity, with 5+ years in the utility sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in the utility sector focusing on grid operations, transmission, distribution, or smart grid tech.
• Strong understanding of power systems, grid control, and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure.
• Experience with data analytics, grid simulation tools, and IoT deployments in energy systems.
• Excellent project management and remote communication skills.
• Familiarity with utility business models and regulatory frameworks governing grid modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies and roadmaps for modernizing the electrical grid with smart grid tech.
• Evaluate technologies for grid enhancements: automation, sensors, and comms.
