Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Grid Modernization Engineer for a fully remote role. You will drive smart grid initiatives, DER integration, and grid automation to improve reliability and sustainability of energy distribution globally.

The ideal candidate has a strong power-systems background with 6+ years of experience, and is proficient in SCADA, DMS, EMS, and related analysis tools, while navigating regulatory contexts and managing complex projects.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with power-systems focus.
At least 6 years in power systems engineering with grid modernization exposure.
Proven experience with SCADA, DMS, EMS.
Knowledge of power system analysis software and simulation tools.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and standards in grid modernization.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement grid modernization solutions (smart meters, SCADA, grid automation).
Analyze grid performance data to identify improvements.
Evaluate DER integration (solar, battery storage) into the grid.
Develop technical specs and project plans for modernization initiatives.
Collaborate with utilities, technology providers, and regulators for deployment.
Research emerging technologies and best practices in grid modernization.
