About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior VoIP Engineer to join their established, fully remote technical team. This position is critical for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of their Voice over IP infrastructure, which serves a wide array of business clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of voice quality, reliability, and security for their VoIP services. Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain VoIP systems, including PBX platforms, session border controllers (SBCs), and gateways.
- Monitor VoIP network performance, troubleshoot issues related to call quality, connectivity, and security, and implement effective solutions.
- Develop and enforce best practices for VoIP security, including implementing firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems.
- Collaborate with network and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of VoIP services with existing infrastructure.
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex VoIP-related customer issues and internal escalations.
- Stay current with VoIP technologies, standards, and vendor offerings to recommend improvements and new solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically focused on VoIP engineering and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, H.323, and SRTP.
- Hands-on experience with major VoIP platforms (e.g., Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Cisco Call Manager) and SBCs.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, QoS, and VPNs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
