Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior VoIP Engineer to design, implement and support advanced VoIP infrastructure for an international client base. This remote role requires hands-on experience with SIP, PBX (Asterisk/FreeSWITCH), SBCs and codecs to ensure high‑quality voice services.

The successful candidate will work independently in a distributed team, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive resilience and scalability across VoIP platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience with VoIP technologies and SIP.
• Strong knowledge of PBX systems (Asterisk/FreeSWITCH) and SBCs.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, UDP, and QoS network protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage remote projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain scalable VoIP networks and systems (PBX, gateways, SBCs).
• Monitor VoIP performance, troubleshoot call quality issues, optimize user experience.
• Develop network configurations, best practices, and DR plans for VoIP services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VoIP with other apps and systems.
• Manage and upgrade VoIP hardware/software, ensure security.
• Provide Tier 3 support for complex VoIP incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of PBX systems (e.g., Asterisk, FreeSWITCH) and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
• Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and QoS.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote work environment .
• Strong understanding of audio codecs and troubleshooting techniques for voice quality issues.
