Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Event Coordinator to plan and execute a portfolio of sporting events from a remote capacity across South Africa. You will manage budgets, vendors, and logistics while coordinating with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional attendee experiences.

The role requires 6+ years in event planning, a bachelor’s in a related field, and strong skills in budgeting, marketing, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in event planning and coordination, with focus on sports events.
• Proven ability to manage multiple events under tight deadlines.
• Strong budgeting, negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Excellent event marketing and promotional strategy knowledge.
• Outstanding organizational, project and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in event management software and MS Office.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute a portfolio of sporting events from concept to post-event evaluation.
• Manage event budgets with cost-effectiveness and accurate tracking.
• Liaise with venues, suppliers and vendors and negotiate contracts.
• Coordinate all logistics including scheduling, staffing, transport, and catering.
• Develop event marketing and communication plans to drive attendance and engagement.
• Manage registration processes and attendee communications.
• Oversee on-site event operations with local support as needed, resolving issues.
• Liaise with sports bodies and stakeholders for compliance and alignment.
• Develop risk management and contingency plans for all events.
• Conduct post-event analysis and prepare comprehensive stakeholder reports.
