Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our client on a fully remote basis, based out of Bloemfontein. You will analyze, design, and optimize electrical power systems for critical infrastructure projects, ensuring reliability, stability, and efficiency of grids and industrial power solutions.
The role requires a Master's in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), 8+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, or PowerWorld.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical power system analysis and design.
- Proficiency with power system simulation software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PowerWorld.
- In-depth knowledge of grid codes, protection systems, and substation design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills suitable for a remote role.
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects independently.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis.
- Design and specify power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Develop protection schemes and coordinate relays for complex power networks.
- Perform feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for power system upgrades and expansions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on power system projects.
- Ensure designs comply with national and international standards for power system engineering.
