Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Project Manager for commercial construction to lead large-scale projects across South Africa. You will oversee the full lifecycle—from pre-construction and budgeting to execution and handover—directing remote teams, vendors, and consultants to deliver on time and within budget.

Requirements: Bachelor's in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred); 10+ years in PM with 7+ years in large commercial builds; budgets above R100 million;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• 10+ years progressive PM experience; minimum 7 years on large-scale commercial projects.
• Budgets exceeding R100 million; strong software proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle for commercial construction projects.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans (scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality).
• Oversee remote project teams including site staff, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are met.
• Manage client relationships with clear communication and regular reporting.
• Control project costs and approve expenditures to maintain profitability.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues with effective plans.
• Ensure timely completion of milestones and progress reviews via virtual site visits.
• Oversee project closeout activities, including final inspections and handover.
