Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Project Manager for commercial construction to lead large-scale projects across South Africa. You will oversee the full lifecycle—from pre-construction and budgeting to execution and handover—directing remote teams, vendors, and consultants to deliver on time and within budget.

Requirements: Bachelor's in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred); 10+ years in PM with 7+ years in large commercial builds; budgets above R100 million;

You will be responsible for the overall success of projects, overseeing all aspects from pre-construction planning and budgeting through to execution, closeout, and client handover. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle for commercial construction projects, ensuring strategic alignment with company goals.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, risk, and quality management strategies.
• Oversee and coordinate remote project teams, including site staff, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project execution.
• Manage client relationships, ensuring clear communication, regular reporting, and satisfaction with project outcomes.
• Control project costs, monitor financial performance, and approve expenditures to maintain profitability.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favourable terms.
• Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues, developing and implementing effective mitigation plans.
• Ensure timely completion of all project milestones and deliverables, driving efficiency in remote operations.
• Conduct virtual site visits and detailed reviews of progress reports to maintain oversight.
• Oversee project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, and handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 7 years focused on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects with budgets exceeding R100 million.
• Extensive experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore) and collaborative platforms.
• Strong understanding of all phases of commercial construction, from inception to completion.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills tailored for remote environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously from a distance.
• In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and best practices.
• Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must be legally eligible to work remotely within South Africa and have a stable, reliable internet connection.
• Professional certifications such as PMP or Pr. CPM are highly desirable.
