Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Bioinformatics Research Scientist (Genomics) to join a remote R&D team. Lead genomic data analysis, develop pipelines, and translate biological questions into computational solutions.

You will design workflows in Python/R, collaborate with biologists and clinicians, and mentor junior scientists in a remote-first setting. Strong emphasis on innovation and scientific rigor.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics, focusing on NGS data.
• Proficient in Python and R; familiarity with bioinformatics libraries and workflows.
• Strong Linux/Unix command-line skills; experience with cloud platforms and containers is desirable.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement bioinformatics pipelines for WGS, WES, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq data.
• Perform statistical analysis to identify biomarkers and targets.
• Collaborate with biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to translate queries into computational plans.
• Develop and maintain codebases and workflows using Python, R, and bioinformatics tools.
• Contribute to study design, QC, and data interpretation.
• Stay updated on genomics and computational methods; explore new approaches.
• Present findings at internal meetings and conferences; mentor junior scientists.
• Support knowledge sharing within a remote team.
