Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join a cutting-edge genomics research team. This fully remote role involves developing and applying advanced computational tools to analyze large-scale genomic data and drive precision medicine initiatives.

You will work with researchers worldwide, design robust pipelines for NGS data, and stay current with the latest bioinformatics methods while communicating complex results to multidisciplinary partners.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Genetics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, with a strong focus on genomics data analysis.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics libraries.
• Hands-on experience with sequence alignment, variant calling, and gene expression analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP) and version control (Git).
• Excellent problem-solving and remote communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing NGS data.
• Perform statistical and computational analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists and clinicians to interpret findings and guide research strategies.
• Develop and maintain databases and computational resources to support genomic research.
• Interpret genetic variants and their associations with disease phenotypes.
• Stay current with advancements in bioinformatics and genomics, applying new methods as appropriate.
