Placements24 is assisting a rapidly expanding international fintech company in finding a Senior Financial Accountant for a fully remote position in South Africa. You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, prepare IFRS-compliant statements, and partner with leadership to deliver strategic insights.

In this remote role, you’ll implement strong internal controls, manage the general ledger, and collaborate with auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is essential.
• Professional accounting qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA) required.
• 5–7 years of progressive financial accounting experience, preferably in technology or financial services.
• Expert IFRS knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Advanced Excel and accounting software familiarity (NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise).

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings per IFRS.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances for leadership.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls and policies.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits.
• Support tax compliance and reporting requirements.
• Assist in implementing new accounting systems and processes.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and foster a high-performance team.
• Stay updated on accounting standards and drive continuous improvement.
