Placements24 seeks a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Officer to join a national organization on a fully remote basis. Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of EHS programs with emphasis on sanitation and public health across all facilities.

Role requires strong regulatory knowledge, risk assessment skills, and the ability to translate complex EHS requirements into actionable guidance for diverse teams. Remote work across South Africa with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management.
• In-depth knowledge of SA EHS legislation (OHSA, NEMA) and regulatory frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or related field; professional certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust EHS policies and procedures focused on sanitation and hygiene.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and audits using submitted data and virtual sources.
• Ensure compliance with national and local EHS regulations and public health requirements.
• Investigate EHS incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver training materials on EHS, sanitation, and best practices for remote and site staff.
