Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join a fully remote team. You will develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies with a strong emphasis on sanitation, ensuring compliance across operations while promoting a culture of safety from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

You will lead training, conduct remote risk assessments, investigate incidents, and maintain records to deliver regular EHS reports for management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS role with sanitation or hygiene management.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective EHS programs and policies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using EHS management software and standard office productivity tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Certification such as CSP or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety programs, focusing on sanitation and hygiene protocols.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and identify potential hazards in workplace environments and operational processes.
• Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national EHS regulations and standards.
• Organize and deliver EHS training sessions for employees, covering topics such as safe handling of chemicals, emergency preparedness, and sanitation procedures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, including training, inspections, incident reports, and audit findings.
• Prepare regular EHS reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external regulatory bodies to address EHS concerns.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest EHS legislation, industry trends, and best practices in sanitation.
