Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer for a fully remote role. You will plan and design wells, develop drilling programs, manage budgets, and supervise equipment and service providers. Collaboration with geologists and reservoir engineers is essential in a remote-first team.

The role requires 7+ years in drilling, a relevant engineering degree, and IWCF certification is highly desirable. You will contribute to safety, efficiency, and high-quality well delivery across global assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in drilling engineering and operations.
• Proven track record in planning and executing complex wells.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment, practices, and associated risks.
• Proficiency in drilling simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of well control principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., IWCF) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design wells, including casing programs, cementing, and wellbore stability analysis.
• Develop detailed drilling procedures and programs.
• Prepare cost estimates and manage drilling budgets.
• Oversee drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
• Select and manage drilling equipment and services providers.
• Conduct post-drilling analysis and performance reviews.
• Identify and mitigate drilling risks and hazards.
• Apply advanced drilling techniques, such as MPD and Directional Drilling.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and completions engineers.
• Mentor junior drilling engineers and contribute to knowledge transfer.
