Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will lead design and execution of major civil infrastructure projects, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare detailed drawings and tender documents from your home office.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor juniors, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage timelines and budgets to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across the country.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and project management.
• Proven track record in designing and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HEC-RAS.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, structural analysis, and hydraulic design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• A dedicated home office setup with reliable high-speed internet connectivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water supply systems, and drainage networks.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments to inform project planning.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents using industry-standard software.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, project managers, and other engineers, to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
• Conduct quality assurance and control checks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements and best practices in civil engineering and technology.
