Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of advanced aerospace systems. This fully remote role requires expertise in CATIA V5, NX, FEA (ANSYS/NASTRAN), and deep knowledge of aerospace materials and standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across aerodynamics, systems engineering, manufacturing, and testing, and ensure designs meet AS9100 standards. 10+ years of experience and advanced degrees are expected.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design within the aerospace industry.
• Expert proficiency in CATIA V5, NX and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN).
• Deep understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Proven experience with stress, fatigue, thermal, and vibration analysis for aerospace applications.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, propulsion systems, or spacecraft systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience in remote engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of complex aerospace systems and components, ensuring compliance with stringent industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CATIA V5, NX.
• Perform rigorous structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis using FEA and other simulation tools to validate design integrity.
• Select appropriate materials, considering factors such as strength-to-weight ratio, thermal properties, and environmental resistance.
• Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, systems engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and qualification activities to verify design performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues during design, manufacturing, and flight testing phases.
• Author comprehensive technical documentation, including design reports, analyses, and specifications.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in aerospace technology, materials, and design methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence within the remote engineering team.
