Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Mechanical Design Engineer for the aerospace sector. This fully remote role focuses on detailed design, analysis, and documentation of complex aerospace components, requiring strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing, and aerospace standards.

You will use CATIA or NX to create models and drawings, perform FEA, and collaborate with distributed teams to ensure manufacturability and certification readiness.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related aerospace field.
• 7+ years of professional mechanical design experience in aerospace.
• Expert in 3D CAD (CATIA, NX) and PDM/PLM systems.
• Proven experience with advanced FEA for aerospace.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing methods and standards.
• Familiar with aerospace design certification processes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, communication, and remote collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and documentation with CAD.
• Perform stress, thermal, and vibration analyses using FEA.
• Ensure designs meet AS9100, DOD, and NASA standards.
• Collaborate with distributed teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Support qualification and certification processes.
• Maintain design documentation, plans, and FMEA.
• Stay current with new technologies and materials.
