WhatJobs Direct is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a fully remote, permanent team in South Africa. You will oversee all accounting operations, ensure IFRS compliance, and provide strategic financial insights while supporting budgeting, tax, and audits in a remote, self-driven environment.

The role emphasizes strong analytical capability, proficiency with SAP/Sage/QuickBooks and advanced Excel, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining diligent communication with stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; SAIPA/SAICA articles desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Sage, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations including reconciliations, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Develop and implement accounting policies to ensure compliance and improve efficiency.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits.
• Ensure timely tax filings and compliance with regulations.
• Provide financial guidance to other departments.
• Mentor junior accounting staff.
