Placements24 seeks a Senior Financial Accountant for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will oversee IFRS reporting, GL integrity, and budgeting while supporting audits and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting, SA IFRS knowledge, and proficiency in SAP/Oracle/QuickBooks with advanced Excel, all in a remote team setting. You will mentor juniors, implement policies, and collaborate with auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional accounting qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting standards.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team.
• A dedicated home office setup with a reliable internet connection is essential for this remote role.
• Previous experience with financial reporting automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review IFRS financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Manage and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy of all financial transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and other financial data.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decisions.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.
