Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Process Safety Engineer in Rustenburg, North West to strengthen safety programs. You will develop and maintain process safety management systems, lead PHAs, manage MOC, and drive incident investigations to prevent recurrence.

Ideal candidates have a chemical engineering background, 5+ years in process safety, and strong regulatory knowledge. This is a remote-first role with focus on safety culture and operational integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in process safety, petrochemical or oil & gas.
• Experience with PHA methodologies and PSM elements.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA PSM, NFPA).
• Proven analytical, problem-solving and risk assessment skills.
• Independent, proactive, capable of remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If).
• Develop and implement PSM elements.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Oversee mechanical integrity programs for critical equipment.
• Manage MOC processes and safety implications of changes.
• Develop and deliver process safety training.
• Maintain safety documentation (P&IDs, manuals, SOPs).
• Perform regular safety audits and site inspections.
• Stay updated on evolving process safety regulations.
