Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Process Safety Engineer for its Rustenburg facility in the North West. You will design, implement, and enforce comprehensive PSM programs, performing rigorous PHAs and MOC reviews to safeguard personnel and the enviroment.

The role requires a chemical engineering background with at least 7 years in process safety within mining or chemical sectors, plus strong incident investigation skills and regulatory knowledge. On-site, with competitive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of process safety engineering experience in chemical/mining environments.
• Experience with HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA risk assessments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP frameworks.
• Experience with incident investigation techniques and RCA.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management programs.
• Conduct PHAs including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA for processes.
• Oversee MOC processes and safety implications of changes.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for staff and contractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local and international process safety standards.
• Develop and maintain PSI documentation including P&IDs and SOPs.
• Act as SME on process safety for projects and operations.
• Promote proactive safety culture across the organization.
• Maintain safety information systems and equipment lists.
