The ideal candidate has 12+ years in renewable energy electrical design, mastery of international standards (IEC/IEEE), and strong leadership and communication skills. Durban-focused role with global project exposure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of specialized renewable energy electrical design experience.
• Experience with AC/DC systems, grid interconnection, and protection studies.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical) and simulation tools.
• Experience leading design teams and coordinating with external partners.
• P.Eng registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of large-scale PV and wind projects.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs with diagrams and specs.
• Perform calculations and simulations for power systems and protection.
• Ensure designs meet IEC, IEEE standards and SA regulations.
• Manage and review design packages from teams and consultants.
• Provide guidance through project lifecycle from construction to commissioning.
• Collaborate with development, procurement, and construction teams.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks in electrical designs.
• Contribute to design process improvements for Durban projects.
