Placements24 is seeking a senior Remote Industrial Engineer in South Africa to lead plant layout design and workflow optimization. You will collaborate virtually with engineering teams to develop safe, cost-efficient layouts and improve material flow from anywhere.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 7+ years in industrial engineering, and proficiency with AutoCAD and simulation tools. Prior petrochemical or heavy manufacturing exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a strong emphasis on plant layout, facility design, and workflow optimization.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software is essential for creating detailed drawings.
Experience with simulation software (e.g., Plant Simulation, ProModel) is highly desirable.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, material handling systems, and ergonomics.
Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and environmental regulations.
Excellent spatial reasoning and visualization skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
Proven ability to work independently, manage time, and deliver results in a remote setting.
Experience in the petrochemical or heavy manufacturing industry is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

Design and redesign plant layouts to optimize space utilization, material flow, and operational efficiency.
Develop detailed workflow diagrams and process maps to analyze and improve production sequences.
Apply ergonomic principles to workstation and equipment design, ensuring safety and productivity.
Conduct facility planning studies, including capacity analysis and equipment placement.
Utilize CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D layout drawings and visualizations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate new equipment and processes into existing facilities.
Perform simulations to test the efficiency and impact of proposed layout and workflow changes.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
Develop cost estimates and justifications for proposed layout and workflow modifications.
Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and present design proposals to stakeholders.
