Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Industrial Engineer specializing in plant layout and flow optimization for a Richards Bay facility in KwaZulu-Natal. You will analyze current configurations, design layouts with CAD and simulation tools, and ensure seamless integration of equipment to maximize productivity and safety.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years’ experience in plant layout and material flow, and proficiency in AutoCAD with FlexSim/Arena.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years' hands-on industrial engineering experience with plant layout and material flow.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software for layout design.
• Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, Arena) for process analysis.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and workplace organization.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Legally eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing plant layouts and material flow paths to identify inefficiencies.
• Design optimal layouts, production line configurations, and workstation arrangements using CAD and simulation tools.
• Develop and implement material flow strategies to minimize travel and bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance to meet safety and environmental requirements.
• Create and maintain layout drawings, P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
• Oversee implementation of new layouts and transition of operations.
• conduct ergonomic assessments and improvements for worker safety.
