Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Remote Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing for our nationwide workforce. You will ensure timely and accurate payments, handle deductions, and stay compliant with SA labor laws and tax regulations.

This role is remote with bi-weekly or monthly payroll cycles. You will manage employee data, respond to payroll inquiries, and maintain confidentiality while delivering precise results.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar payroll processing role.
• Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation and tax requirements.
• Proficiency with payroll software (VIP Payroll, Sage 300 People) and HRIS systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely payroll for all employees on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.
• Manage employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation or status.
• Calculate and process all statutory deductions, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL.
• Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of financial postings to the general ledger.
• Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and best practices.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits promptly and professionally.
